New Exhibit opens at the MAC this Sunday: DreamWorks Animation



The Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture's new exhibit, DreamWorks Animation: The Exhibition - Journey from Sketch to Screen, will open to the general public on Sunday, March 27 and run through September 11. MAC members may preview the exhibition on Saturday, March 26.

The MAC is proud to be the first-ever U.S. destination to present this large-scale, behind-the-scenes exhibition that showcases the creative legacy of DreamWorks Animation, that brought the world the beloved films Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon and Trolls, among many other animated films.

DreamWorks Animation: The Exhibition - Journey from Sketch to Screen features over 350 items, including rare and never-seen-before material from DreamWorks Animation's archive, including concept drawings, storyboards, models, masks, maps, photographs, posters, paintings, and other original artworks from their much-loved animated classics. Visitors will take a fascinating journey from original sketches of grumpy ogres and friendly dragons, to the amazing stories and worlds brought to the screen by DreamWorks Animation's award-winning artists. Throughout the run of this exhibition, visitors to the MAC will also have the opportunity to view DreamWorks Animation movies, encounter DreamWorks characters, and attend a variety of other events related to the exhibition.

Glenn Miller Orchestra coming to The Fox March 30



The legendary Glenn Miller Orchestra from New York will perform one night only in Spokane at Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox, bringing timeless classics like 'In the Mood,' 'Moonlight Serenade,' 'Chattanooga Choo Choo,' 'Pennsylvania 6-5000,' 'String of Pearls' and 'Tuxedo Junction' back to the stage. Even 80 years after founding his famous orchestra, Glenn Miller's music is alive and well. Performance is Wednesday, March 30 at 7pm.

CdA Blues Festival this weekend at the CdA Resort



The Coeur d'Alene Resort and Too Far North Productions are welcoming back the 12th Annual Coeur d'Alene Blues Festival, a five-time winner of the Inland Empire Blues Society's 'Best Blues Festival'. This will be a soulful weekend celebrating the best of modern blues, featuring top talent from local, regional and national blues artists and some of the most popular bands. The Festival runs this Friday, March 25 through Sunday, March 27.

Santana comes to the Spokane Arena April 3



Guitar legend Carlos Santana makes a stop in Spokane on his Blessings and Miracles Tour, on Sunday, April 3, 8pm at the Spokane Arena. Santana has won ten Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammys, with a record nine Grammys for a single project for 1999's Supernatural, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for 'Smooth'. His most recent album, the powerful, energy-infused Africa Speaks (2019), inspired by the sounds and rhythms of Africa, was called his 'best record in decades' (NPR) and was ranked among 'the fiercest albums in Santana's 50-year career' by New York Times.

Julia Sweeney at The Fox this Saturday



Julia Sweeney: Older & Wiser, will have two performances this Saturday, March 26 at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox, at 4pm and 8pm. This show was postponed for 2 years due to the pandemic. Julia will not only be performing her show, but it will be filmed as a comedy special. Julia Sweeney, the hilarious actress/comedienne and writer is originally from Spokane. She is most well-known for having been a cast member of Saturday Night Live in the early 90s where she popularized her most famous character, Pat. After she left SNL, she created several comedic biographical one-person shows.
