Elf the Musical at The Bing this weekend



Christian Youth Theater Spokane presents Elf the Musical at the Bing starting tonight and running through Sunday. Elf is the beloved story of Buddy, a young orphan who mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Elf is a modern day holiday classic.

Sound Reformation at Holy Names Music Center this Sunday



Imagine Jazz presents Critically Acclaimed, New York Saxophonist Darryl Yokley and his band Sound Reformation on Sunday November 14 at McNally Recital Hall at Holy Names Music Center. Yokley has performed for music legend Quincy Jones as well playing with Motown legends The Four Tops, The Temptations, and The O' Jays. Sound Reformation, a classic quartet much in the style of John Coltrane is comprised of Zaccai Curtis on piano, Luques Curtis on bass, and Wayne Smith Jr. on drums. Each member is a composer and band leader in their own right, having learned from and performed with many historic jazz figures.

The Quartet will perform in a Legacy Workshop during the day 3-6pm this Sunday, allowing local students and community members to work with all four members in instrument specific classes, combo coaching and demonstrations. The concert will occur at 7pm.

Imagine Jazz is a non-profit organization in Spokane dedicated to celebrating Jazz heritage and enriching local living through the advocacy of the arts. Support for this event comes from Spokane City Credit Union, Empowering People, Future Song and Holy Names Music Center. United by Water & Older Than The Crown at the Garland Theater November 13



The Garland Theater and War Pony Pictures presents a special double feature to celebrate Native American History Month this Saturday, November 13. Doors open at 2:30pm and the show starts at 3pm with United By Water with a guest panel to follow. Older Than The Crown will begin at 5pm and will close out with a special sneak peek of the expanded version. Tickets will be sold at the venue with a portion of the proceeds going to the Salish School of Spokane.

Spokane Symphony Masterworks 3 this weekend at The Fox

Join the Spokane Symphony and Music Director James Lowe, for Masterworks 3: Points North, featuring music by Felix Mendelssohn, Anna Clyne, Nikolai Tcherepnin, and Jean Sibelius. Guest Artist for Masterworks 3 is celebrated cellist Inbal Segev who has made solo performances at leading international venues and with preeminent orchestras and conductors worldwide.

A Christmas Carol at First Interstate Center November 12-13



Two visionary Tony Award winners - playwright Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) and director Matthew Warchus (Matilda) offer a magical new interpretation of Charles Dickens' timeless story, A Christmas Carol. This show features dazzling staging, moving storytelling, and 12 cherished Christmas carols, including 'Joy to the World,' 'Silent Night,' and 'It Came Upon the Midnight Clear.'

Monster Jam at the Arena starting tonight



Monster Jam is an action-packed motorsport with world-class athletes locked in intense competition of speed and skill. Witness heated rivalries, high-flying stunts and head-to-head battles for the Event Championship. These 12,000-pound monster trucks, including the legendary Grave Digger, Megalodon, El Toro Loco and more push all the limits in racing competitions. Monster Jam also features breathtaking Freestyle Motocross exhibitions.

KPBX Fall Folk Festival Broadcast this Saturday on 91.1 FM

Join Spokane Public Radio for a studio broadcast of performers generally heard at the annual Spokane Folklore Society's Fall Folk Festival. The show will instead be broadcast from on KPBX 91.1 studio from 11am-1pm this Saturday, November 13. This year's broadcast features performances from six musical acts who would have performed if the actual festival had been held. Hosts Kevin Brown (Front Porch Bluegrass Producer and Host) and Verne Windham (SPR Music Director and host of KPBX's Morning Classical) will introduce guests and interview them during the broadcast.

This year's bands include Jen Edgren (kids' songs and more), Lyle Morse (the blues), Spokane Storytellers League (folk tall tales), Dr. Bob Riggs (Folk favorites), Frankie Ghee (singer/songwriter), Ena Wang (Chinese zither), Ron Doyen (folk and more), and Verne and Kevin will also entertain with commentary, music and more.
