Wednesday, May 1, 2019 Spokane Symphony Classics - Eckart's Farewell this weekend
Spokane will say 'farewell' and 'thank you' to our beloved Maestro Eckart Preu for 15 years of beautiful music-making with our Spokane Symphony. Preu has led the orchestra as Music Director and Principal Conductor, and at this concert, Classics 10, he will take his final bow in Spokane. Preu has been named music director of the Portland Symphony Orchestra in Maine, starting with the 2019-20 season.
This concert will include the Concerto of the Mad Queen, performed by composer Nebojsa Jovan Zivkovic. Overture to L'amant Anonyme by Joseph Boulogne, and the majestic Alpine Symphony by Strauss. Performances are this Saturday, May 4 at 8pm and Sunday, May 5 at 3pm at Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox. There will be a pre-concert talk with Maestro Preu one hour before each performance, free to all ticketholders.

 Arbor Crest's Summer Concert Series begins tomorrow
Summer is around the corner, and Arbor Crest will begin their fabulous Summer Concert Series, starting tomorrow, Thursday, May 2. Concerts are Thursday and Sunday evenings through September. For Thursday concerts, general admission is $6 and performances are at just outside the Tasting Room; Sunday concerts are $12 admission, and are at the Main Stage at the edge of the Cliff House courtyard. Wine, beer and food available for purchase. Concert punch cards are also available.
This Thursday, May 2, Dr. Phil and the Enablers perform Blues-Rock, and Sunday, May 5, Rock 'n' Roll dance band, Uppercut, takes the stage.
Performances begin at 5:30pm, the admission gate opens at 3:30 (the Estate and Tasting Room open at Noon), and the grounds are open until 8pm. (All times one hour earlier in September). Visit arborcrest.com for more details.
 SCC Garden Expo coming May 11
The 20th Annual Garden Expo will be held Spokane Community College, 1810 N Greene Street on Saturday, May 11 from 9am-5pm. The Expo offers over 250 booths of fantastic plant and garden-related items, with vendors selling all kinds of garden items, including exotic specialty plants, original garden art, garden products and accessories and more. Lots of food vendors will be on hand with items available for purchase. Lectures will be held throughout the day in the SCC Conference rooms, and there will be a fun kids booth with activities for children. Admission is free.

 Celtic Woman coming to the Fox May 11
Experience the Grammy-nominated Celtic Woman on their all-new tour, Ancient Land, the next chapter of their incredible musical journey. Both an accomplished recording ensemble and a world-class performing collective, Celtic Woman celebrates Ireland's rich musical and cultural heritage, while continuing its legacy of introducing some of Ireland's most talented singers and musicians onto the world stage.

 Save the date: Crave! Food & Drink Celebration coming July 11-13
Crave! the Inland Northwest's premier food and drink celebration will be held Thursday through Saturday, July 11-13 at the Spokane Valley CenterPlace Regional Event Center. The City of Spokane Valley again sponsors the event. Crave! is a celebration of the Northwest culinary products, tastemakers, restaurants and producers from the region. It's a unique three-day culinary food event that will showcase the creative talents of visionary chefs from around the Northwest. From fresh seafood and ranch-raised meats to farm-to-table produce with a wide variety of local, regional and international flavors to be featured over the three day event.

3 Doors Down coming to First Interstate Center August 21
Mississippi-based rock band 3 Doors Down is coming to Spokane with a performance at the First Interstate Center for the Arts on Wednesday, August 21. 3 Doors Down has sold over 20 million albums over the course of its lengthy career, with songs 'Kryptonite', 'When I'm Gone', and 'Here Without You'.

Wild & Scenic Film Festival at the Garland Theater May 2
The Spokane Riverkeeper and Mountain Gear are presenting the 5th Annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival at the Garland Theater, tomorrow, Thursday, May 2. Doors open at 6pm and show begins at 7pm. There will be an array of environmental films, Riverkeeper IPA from River City Brewing, door prizes, and information from other community guests. This event is a benefit for the Spokane Riverkeeper and to support the work they are doing to protect the river.
The Wild & Scenic Film Festival works with environmental groups across the globe to host the film festival as a way to outreach into their communities and bring together a diverse audience. The goal is to use film to inspire activism.

Terry Fator and friends visit Northern Quest Friday night
Ventriloquist Terry Fator is bringing five new characters to a brand new show at Northern Quest, this Friday, May 3 at 7:30pm. Willie Nelson, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Stevie Wonder and Justin Bieber will now join Fator, in puppet form onstage.
