Tim Behrens presents My Favorite Toy Was Dirt, an American Story in Concert this Friday at SCC



Tim Behrens is back with a new, authentic musical McManus show: My Favorite Toy Was Dirt, an American Story in Concert. Written by Patrick F. McManus starring Tim Behrens, with original music composed and arranged by Olivia Brownlee, scored for 7 musicians vs. 1 actor. The musicians become an integral part of the performance and the humor, as they interrupt, interject, and also interfere with the proceedings.

There are 4 separate performances, beginning with the first this Friday, February 15, 7:30pm at SCC's Lair auditorium. It's at Sandpoint's Panida Theater Friday, February 22, 7:30pm and Sunday, February 24, at 3pm. The final performance is Friday, March 1, 7:30pm at Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines Rd in Spokane Valley.

Kris Kristofferson coming to the Fox February 1



Singer/songwriter, actor, Golden Globe and Grammy winner Kris Kristofferson has recorded 29 albums, including three with pals Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings as part of the Highwaymen.

He wrote classic hits songs like 'Me and Bobby McGee,' 'Help Me Make It Through the Night,' and many more. He has acted in more than 70 films, including 'A Star is Born' from 1977, in which he won a Golden Globe for Best Actor. Kristofferson has spent three decades performing concerts all over the world, in most recent years in a solo acoustic setting, which puts the focus on the songs. "There's an honesty in the sparseness. It feels like direct communication to the listener," he says.

He'll be in Spokane for one performance only, Thursday, February 21 at Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox. Showtime is 8pm. Tickets are available at www.ticketswest.com or 800-325-SEAT.


Spokane Symphony Classics concert at the Fox this weekend



Celebrate Valentine's with Romantic music at 'Passion's Pursuit,' with the Spokane Symphony performing works by Franz Lizst and Johannes Brahms, including Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2. Performances are this Saturday, February 16 at 8pm and Sunday, February 17 at 3pm, at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox.

You'll also have the opportunity to meet music director finalist, James Lowe (pictured above) at a Q&A one hour and 15 minutes before each performance. This will be followed by a pre-concert talk with the Maestro Lowe and guest artist Haochen Zhang. Come early to learn more about the music you will hear. This talk is free to all ticketholders.

Spokane Public Radio Record Sale February 23-24

Spokane Public Radio's annual Record Sale is set for Saturday & Sunday, February 23-24, at the Spokane Valley Event Center, 10514 E Sprague. The Record Sale is the largest event of its kind in the Inland Northwest with thousands of vinyl records, CDs, DVDs, and equipment items on sale.

The Record Sale is a destination for collectors and fans of all styles of music. You'll find albums from a broad cross-section of musical genres, including classical, rock, R&B, soul, reggae, folk, country, world music, children's music, soundtracks, and jazz. In addition to great deals on music, films, and equipment.

The Record Sale serves as a vital fundraiser for Spokane Public Radio stations KPBX, KSFC, and KPBZ, which together act as the Inland Northwest's source for NPR, BBC, local news, an eclectic variety of national and local music programs, and events that promote the arts in the region.

Spokane Symphony's Baroque 2: Handel's Journey Feb 23 & 24



Take a musical journey with Handel and friends: Bach in Germany, Corelli in Italy and Purcell in England. Plus choral selections from The Messiah. The Spokane Symphony performs, with Jorge Luis Uzcategui, conductor, Mateusz Wolski, Violin, Erica Richardson, Violin, and the Spokane Symphony Chorale.

Jim Gaffigan coming to the Arena April 28



Funny man Jim Gaffigan, will bring his Quality Time Tour to the Spokane Arena on Sunday, April 28. He is known around the world for his unique brand of humor, which largely revolves around his observations on life.

In addition to two seasons of the semi-fictitious Jim Gaffigan Show, which he wrote and produced with his wife Jeannie, and his widely popular stand-up comedy specials, Gaffigan has guest starred on many television comedies and dramas, ranging from 'Portlandia' and 'The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' to HBO's cult hits 'Flight of the Concords' and 'Bored to Death' to dramatic roles in 'Law & Order.'

WIAA District 8 Basketball Tournament this Fri & Sat at the Arena



Get ready to watch some of Eastern Washington's best high school basketball teams battle it out for their trip to the State. Top teams from District 8 composed of the Greater Spokane League as well as Mid Columbia Conference will have the opportunity to play under the bright lights of the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena this Friday, February 15 starting at 3pm and Saturday, February 16 starting at noon.
