Dennis Miller this Friday at the Fox



Dennis Miller, two-time Emmy Award winner and Saturday Night Live Alum, will be in Spokane this Friday, April 6, 8pm for one performance only at the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox. Miller, who came in at number 21 on Comedy Central's list, '100 Greatest Comedians of All Time,' launched his own late-night TV talk show, 'The Dennis Miller Show' and was also a New York Times best-selling author and has hosted a variety of TV and radio talk shows on HBO and CNBC.

SFCC Fine Arts Gallery presents 'Three Generations'

'Three Generations' is a multi-media art presentation by three artists representing three different generations. Kate Berberick Lund, showing sculpture; Melissa Lang presenting painting; and Wendy Franklund-Miller showing print making.

The show is Monday, April 9 - Friday, May 11, in the Fine Arts, Building 6 at Spokane Falls Community College. On Wednesday, April 18 there will be a 'Three Generations' panel discussion with Kate Lund, Mellissa Lang and Wendy Franklund-Miller. It will be at 11:30am in Room 110, Building 24, with a reception to follow in the Fine Arts, Building 6.

West Side Story comes to Spokane April 20 & 21



The Spokane Symphony Special: West Side Story With Spokane Civic Theatre comes to the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox, with two performances, Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21. Both shows at 8pm. Morihiko Nakahara will conduct.

Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is transported to New York City in the turbulent 60's as two young, idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the 'American' Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice unravels in one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time.

This production of West Side Story, is a collaboration with the Spokane Civic Theatre and will feature guest stars directly from the New York stage. They include Matthew Hydzik as TONY and Cody Green as RIFF, both who performed these roles in the 2009 Broadway Revival of West Side Story. Joining them as ANITA is Eden Espinosa, whose Broadway credits include ELPHABA in Wicked and MAUREEN in Rent. MARIA will be portrayed by Mikaela Bennett, who debuted as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic singing excerpts from West Side Story and was a featured soloist in 'Bernstein on Broadway' at The Kennedy Center. Over 10 local performers will complete the cast.

'The Great Ceramics Revival' at The Art Spirit Gallery

Next Friday, April 13, from 5-8pm, The Art Spirit Gallery at 415 Sherman in downtown Coeur d'Alene celebrates the opening of 'The Great Ceramics Revival.' The gallery is collaborating with highly acclaimed guest curator Peter Held, who has thoughtfully procured twenty top regional clay artists, many of whom he formed deep relationships with at the Archie Bray Foundation during his twenty-plus years in Helena, Montana. The show runs through May 5.

Saturday, April 14 at noon, the gallery will present a guided walk through this show with guest curator Peter Held. In this guided tour, Peter will talk about the many different artists featured throughout the show, including their techniques. Through this informal and informative walk you'll have the opportunity to ask questions, while learning more about the artwork featured.

Guests are encouraged to arrive between 11:30am and noon, to begin with coffee and cookies, and the guided tour will begin promptly at Noon.

Ignite Community Theatre presents 'A Shayna Maidel'



Ignite Community Theatre, at 10814 E. Broadway Avenue, Spokane Valley, presents Barbara Lebow's A Shayna Maidel Friday, April 13 through Thursday, April 19. A Shayna Maidel is the poignant story of a family torn apart by the horrors of the Holocaust. The play is directed by Susan Hardie.
