Arbor Crest Summer Concert series starts tomorrow!



Summer is just around the corner, and Arbor Crest's popular summer concert series is back with a great line up of performers all season long! Concerts run Thursdays with 'Pairings on the Patio' art and music, and Sundays with 'Concerts on the Cliff', both running through September.

Tomorrow, Thursday, May 4, Jan Harrison performs jazz, and photographer Kevin Montgomery will have selected works on display. On Sunday, May 7, AlgoRhythms Variety Band will perform pop and soft rock hits. Music runs from 5:30-7:30 both days. Thursday concerts are $5, Sunday concerts are $10 admission.

And Tulipfest continues for another few weeks, so stop by and view the beautiful flowers at the Cliff House Estate. You can have a chance to win $200 in concert admissions now through May 14 with Arbor Crest's Tulipfest Facebook Photo Contest. For more information, visit arborcrest.com.


Titans of the Ice Age Exhibit closes at the NW Museum May 7



This is the final week to explore the world of mammoths and mastodons in an 8,500 square foot traveling exhibition from The Field Museum of Chicago. Live among these larger-than-life creatures for a day in this hands-on, interactive exhibition. Experience the world of the Ice Age through large-scale projections, walk-through dioramas, soundscapes, and virtual experiences. The exhibit runs through this Sunday, May 7.

Wild West Classique this Friday at the Bing



Experience a dynamic narrative performance featuring faculty, students, and friends of Holy Names Music Center at Wild West Classique, this Friday, May 5, Bing Crosby Theater, 6pm reception, 7pm concert.

Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. Donations and sponsorships help to provide music scholarships and outreach programs.


Tosh.show on Campus comes to the Arena tomorrow



Daniel Tosh will host and perform an evening of standup comedy featuring writers and comedians from his Comedy Central show 'Tosh.0', Thursday, May 4, 7:30pm at the Star Theater at Spokane Arena.

Spokane Symphony performs Verdi's Requiem

The Spokane Symphony, with Music Director Eckart Preu, will end the 2016-17 Classics Season with one of the great works of Western music, Verdi's Requiem, on Saturday, May 6 at 8pm and Sunday, May 7 at 3pm at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. Vaughn Williams' Serenade to Music is also on the program. The concert features performances by two Metropolitan Opera stars: Elizabeth Caballero, soprano and Adam Diegel, tenor. Mezzo-soprano Teresa Buchholz and baritone Mark Walters complete the vocal quartet. In addition, three choirs will bring power to the choral parts: the Spokane Symphony Chorale, the Eastern Washington University Symphonic Choir, both directed by Kristina Ploeger, and the Gonzaga University Chamber Chorus, directed by Timothy Westerhaus.

Cinderella coming to the INB May 11



West Coast Entertainment's Best of Broadway series continues with Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella, the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical from the creators of The Sound of Music and South Pacific. This lush production has charmed audiences with its contemporary take on the classic tale with an incredible orchestra, unbelievable transformations and all the moments you love including the pumpkin, the glass slipper, the masked ball and more.

Performances are Thursday, May 11 and Friday, May 12 at 7:30pm, Saturday, May 13 at 2pm and 7:30pm, and Sunday, May 14 at 1pm and 6:30pm.

Northwest Museum's 28th Annual Mother's Day Tour coming May 13 & 14



Enjoy one of Spokane's great traditions and a cornerstone of Mother's Day weekend for many families by participating in this year's historic native rock structures driving tour, including Glover Mansion, Westminster Congregational Church, C.C. Koerner House, Ralston & Sarah Wilbur House, Vera Water and Power Well House, Blakely Gardens, and Royal Riblet Mansion Grounds (now Arbor Crest Winery).

Individual tour site addresses and a physical map will be included in your tour booklet, available at the tour. Tour booklets also serve as your admission ticket. Sign boards with balloons will be placed at each tour site to show precise site locations as well as to indicate designated free parking areas, where applicable.

Tour hours are Saturday, May 13 & Sunday, May 14 from noon-5pm. Cost is $15 per ticket for Museum members; $20 non-members. Tickets available at www.northwestmuseum.org. Online tickets are not available the weekend of the event, but can be purchased at the tour. Visit the website for details.

Kentucky Derby at the Garland Theater



This Saturday, May 6, the Garland Theater is having their 2nd annual Kentucky Derby Party. Dress up for the race, prizes will be awarded for best dressed. Live music by Pine League and Runaway Octopus. Doors open at 1pm, race at 3:30 on the big screen.

Advance tickets are $5, tickets at the door are $7. 21+only.

Celebrate Bloomsday Sunday



Bloomsday is entertaining, even if you aren't running or walking. Get out this Sunday morning, May 7 and cheer on 40,000+ participants in the largest timed run on the planet. The race starts at 9. go to Bloomsday.org for all the information.

Spokane Symphony Chamber Soiree May 9 & 10

Join the Ensembles of the Spokane Symphony Musicians at the Historic Davenport Hotel on Tuesday, May 9 & Wednesday, May 10 at 7:30pm for an assortment of baroque, classical and contemporary chamber music. Relax at a table with wine and small bites, or take a seat in the gallery of the Marie Antoinette Ballroom. This is the final event of the Spokane Symphony 2016-2017 Season.

Musical selections include Mozart's Horn Quintet in E-flat major, Tchaikovsky's String Sextet in D minor, and Daniel Bukvich Music from Structure 27.0.

50 Hour Slam film fest at the Bing Saturday

The 50 Hour Slam film festival is this Saturday, May 6, 7pm at the Bing Crosby Theatre. Fifteen finalists are set to compete at the audience screening and you can vote for your favorite. Tickets are $10 online at 50hourslam.com, and $12 at the door.
