Spokane Symphony Celebrates Halloween with the Music of Harry Potter



The Spokane Symphony the direction of Morihiko 'Professor Dumbledore' Nakahara presents The Music of Harry Potter with a bagful of Halloween activities this Saturday, October 29 at 2pm and 8pm at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. The orchestra will perform selections from John Williams' scores from the popular 'Harry Potter' movies in an event loaded with interactive fun before and during the concert!

Upon entering the theater lobby, concertgoers report to their chosen 'House' - Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin or Ravenclaw - to receive their part as the audience. Pre-concert activities include trick or treating between the houses, meeting characters from the show, fun backdrops for photos, live music and more. Adding to the Halloween mood, is a costume contest that will be judged by the Harry Potter characters at the end of the show. Presenting sponsor, Global Credit Union, will be adding their own magic to the experience.

Tickets for The Music of Harry Potter Halloween Special begin at $22 for adults; children 12 and under are half-price. Visit the Campbell House this Halloween



A Campbell House Halloween is a rare and unique opportunity to visit the historic Campbell House at your Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture in Browne's Addition this Halloween, Monday October 31 from 4:30 to 8pm after the sun has gone down. It will be a family and kid friendly event with a scavenger hunt, crafts, and candy. Wear your costume and bring a flashlight as you explore the Campbell House at night.

Cost is $5 per person, and kids 3 and under are free. Since this is on a Monday, the museum will be closed.

The Monster Bash is back this Saturday night, October 29 at 8:30 at The Red Lion Hotel at The Park. Monster Bash 2 features Sammy Eubanks, a $1,000 Grand Costume Prize and lots of other costume prizes, a Photo Booth, a magician and a fortune teller. 'Our Little Town' by Dean Davis at Barrister



Join photographer Dean Davis for the opening of 'Our Little Town' at the Barrister Winery on Friday, November 4. This show is a whimsical look at the Spokane and Coeur d' Alene area through a tilt-shift lens. This lens can fool the eye and brain into believing that what you are looking at is a scale model. The opening festivities go from 5 to 9pm and the show will stay up through the month of November.

Mickey, Minnie and the Toy Story gang present Disney on Ice

Monumental: Skiing Our National Parks at the Fox tomorrow night



Tomorrow night, Thursday, October 27 at 7pm, enjoy a ski film unlike any other, 'Monumental: Skiing Our National Parks,' a Powder Productions Original and presented by REI Co-Op and filmed by KGB Productions, celebrates the 100-year anniversary of the U.S. National Park Service by paying homage to these monuments of nature and solitude.

Part documentary and part action-adventure film, 'Monumental' follows contemporary explorers through the lens of KGB Productions, with skiers Andy Mahre, Lynsey Dyer, Griffin Post, Colter Hinchliffe, Kalen Thorien, Greg Hill, Max Hammer, and Connery Lundin at Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Glacier National Park, and Olympic National Park. Spokane Symphony presents Intersect-From China to America-Emerging Cultures



Music, art and culture come together in way that will enhance your concert experience at INTERSECT on Friday, November 4 at 8pm at the Martin Woldson Theatre at the Fox. The Spokane Symphony is partnering with local chefs, bartenders and cultural arts groups for From 'China to America: Merging Cultures.'

Enjoy a pre-concert experience with the Spokane Chinese Dance Group and a display of local Chinese brush paintings. Chef Jeremy Hansen, of Sante Restaurant and forthcoming Inland Pacific Kitchen, will prepare a Chinese tasting menu. Experience the melodic notes of the Gu Zheng (Chinese harp) while Chinese calligraphers ink your name on a souvenir card. Eckart Preu will lead the Spokane Symphony in a hour-long concert featuring orchestral works by Chinese composers: Chou Wen-chung's 'Yu ko,' the second movement of Chen Yi's 'Chinese Folk Dance Suite,' and Zhou Tian's 'A Thousand Years of Good Prayers.' The concert wraps up with the 'Jupiter' Symphony (No. 41) by Mozart.

Mind Body Spirit Holistic Fair Nov 5 at Unity

'Mindful Living' presented by the Mind Body Spirit Holistic Fair is Saturday, November 5, from 10am to 5pm at Unity Spiritual Center on the South Hill at 29th and Bernard. See 40 vendors and hear 9 educational presentations at this free event with lots of free parking. A food and coffee bar are available.

The mission statement of these fairs is to facilitate healing awareness in our community. They aspire to help people realize the possibility of living a more holistic and sustainable lifestyle.
