LEGO Art Exhibit coming to the MAC November 14



A fun new exhibit that will please LEGO® fans, as well as art and nature lovers, opens on Saturday, November 14 at the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture in Browne's Addition at 2316 W. 1st Avenue. It's 'Nature Connects: LEGO® Brick Sculpture,' and features 27 giant nature-themed sculptures, using nearly 500,000 LEGO bricks, by Brooklyn-based artist Sean Kenney. Visitors will see an eight-foot-tall hummingbird, a seven-foot-tall rose, and a five-foot-tall butterfly, along with two dozen other amazing flora and fauna sculptures made entirely of conventional LEGO bricks. The exhibit runs until February 7, 2016.


LEGO Contest Deadline extended to November 12

If you love to play and build with LEGOs, you may want to submit one of your own original sculptures to the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture's LEGO Brick Build Contest. The deadline for submissions has been extended Friday, November 13. For more information and an official entry form, visit www.northwestmuseum.org.

If your entry is accepted, it will be on display at the museum for the run of the exhibit. Cash prizes will be awarded, voted on by the public, with first ($150), second ($100), and third place ($50) winners in each age group. A grand prize will be awarded for 'Best of Show' ($500 gift certificate and a giant LEGO figure).


Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) party at Hennessey Friday



Hennessey Funeral Home and Crematory and the Hispanic Business Professionals Association present their 1st annual Dia de los Muertos party. The Day of the Dead is a celebration of life when we remember and revere our departed loved ones. On Friday, October 30 from 5 pm until 8 pm, Hennessey Funeral Home and Crematory will be holding a family party with free activities like pinatas, face painting, photo booth, games, crafts, door prizes and much more. Taqueria Fiesta Brava will be serving 2 street tacos and a beverage for $5.

Spend a Scary Halloween night at the Fox with Nosferatu and the Spokane Symphony



This Halloween Saturday, October 31, there will be a special screening of the classic 1922 silent film 'Nosferatu' with live soundtrack performed by the Spokane Symphony. 'Nosferatu', the film adaptation of Bram Stoker's novel 'Dracula', is considered to be one of the most influential cinematic masterpieces of all time. Conducting the Spokane Symphony is Morihiko Nakahara, performance begins at 7:30pm.
