Gleason Fest this Saturday in downtown Spokane

Gleason Fest is an annual indie music festival in Spokane, benefitting Team Gleason and will be this Saturday, August 8. All proceeds of Gleason Fest provide life-improving technology and services to those afflicted with ALS and create global awareness for the disease. This year Gleason Fest brings the medicine tribe to the streets of downtown Spokane. Nahko And Medicine For The People are joined by Rising Appalachia, The Rustics, Real Life Rockaz, Hey! is for Horses, and more.

Team Gleason is inspired by Spokane native, Steve Gleason, who played in the NFL for the New Orleans Saints. In September 25, 2006, Steve was responsible for one of the most dramatic moments in Saints history. He blocked a punt in the first quarter against the Atlanta Falcons, which was recovered in the Falcons' end zone for a touchdown. It was the opening score in the Saints' first home game in nearly 21 months, during which time Hurricane Katrina had devastated the city.

In January 2011, Steve was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Steve and his foundation are deeply committed to helping people with ALS live productive, inspired lives by providing access to life-affirming events and assistive technology until a cure is found.

Gleason Fest will be at Division and Main in downtown Spokane. For more information, visit gleasonfest.org.
