Cheryl Branz solo acoustic show this Saturday



Singer song-writer Cheryl Branz is performing a solo acoustic show this Saturday night from 7 to 10 pm at Grand Ronde Cellars, 905 W 2nd Avenue. She will be performing be performing a mix of originals and covers songs with a few holiday tunes thrown in for good measure

Celebrate "Christmas in New York" with the Spokane Jazz Orchestra



The Spokane Jazz Orchestra, with guest vocalist Charlotte Caruthers, presents "Christmas in New York". It's at the Bing Crosby Theatre this Saturday night at 7:30. Contact Ticketswest.

The historic Davenport Hotel and fabulous River Park Square host the Spokane Symphony Associates Christmas Tree Elegance, now through December 14. It's a raffle of 18 themed trees, each with prizes valued at $5,000. The luncheon fashion show and tea are on Tuesday, December 9 in the Grand Pennington Ballroom of the Davenport Hotel. The luncheon at 11 a.m. for $50 and the tea at 3 p.m. for $35. Reservations are required and may be made by calling 509-458-8733.

The annual extravaganza is created and sponsored by Spokane Symphony Associates, a 300-member volunteer organization that raises more than $200,000 in support of the Spokane Symphony each year.

We could all use a little more JOY in our lives



Trackside Studio Ceramic Art Gallery at 115 S. Adams presents "Cup of Joy," a holiday invitational exhibit of the ceramic cup, one of a kind interpretations of its various forms by 35 ceramic artists. Over 200 functional cup forms, created in low fire, mid range, high fire, wood and soda fired environments, hand built, wheel thrown, stamped, painted, carved, and cast, formed by ceramic artists with national and regional reputations, along with up and coming students of the ceramic craft. Opening receptions are this Friday, December 5th, 5 - 8:30 pm and Saturday, December 6th, noon - 4 pm.

"Ave!" Celebrate, rejoice and renew your spirit

Holy Names Music Center "Spokane's Community Music School" presents the 6th annual "Ave!" Celebrate and rejoice the season with this wonderful performance. This will be a one of a kind experience featuring 16th century to modern day music that will lift your spirits.

"White Christmas" open house at Bing's boyhood home



Gonzaga University and the Advocates for Bing Crosby invite the public to celebrate the holiday season with a free "White Christmas" open house at Bing's boyhood home (508 E. Sharp Ave.) from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6. Hot cider and cookies will be available along with some new photos of Bing as a youngster.

The Crosby family recently donated 70 new images to Gonzaga in time for the event, which will include exhibits of Bing Crosby memorabilia from Gonzaga's collection. Of the new images donated to Gonzaga, about 25 of them depict a young Bing Crosby. The other images include photos of his parents and relatives. The display will include approximately 18 of the newly donated photos. Gonzaga's Crosby House will be freshly adorned in festive Christmas decorations and Bing's best Christmas recordings will be played. The Craftsman-style house where Gonzaga's most famous alumnus grew up is the public museum for the world's largest public collection of Bing Crosby memorabilia.

The Crosby House is open to the public on weekdays from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. Schedules may vary during the University's Christmas break period for students from Dec. 20 through Jan. 12.

The Nutcracker dances into the holidays at the Fox



Spokane's holiday tradition, the Nutcracker, is at the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox for five performances this Thursday through Sunday.. The production will feature the critically-acclaimed State Street Ballet, 81 local dancers and, of course, live music performed by the Spokane Symphony, under the baton of Resident Conductor Morihiko Nakahara.

Choose from five performances on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m.

"All is Calm" through December 21 at the Modern CdA

The Modern Theatre Coeur d'Alene (formerly Lake City Playhouse) at 1320 E. Garden presents "All is Calm" now through December 21. Directed by Abbey Crawford

with Music Direction by Zack Baker the show takes place in 1914, at the Western front. Out of the violence comes a silence, then a song. A German soldier steps into No Man's Land singing "Stille Nacht." Thus begins an extraordinary night of camaraderie, music, and peace. A remarkable true experience, told in the words and songs of the men who lived it. The Modern Theatre is thrilled to be one of a select group of theatres granted permission to perform this moving story on its 100th year anniversary.

The hills are alive with you singing along



This Saturday at 7 pm, come to the INB Performing Arts Center and sing with the 4th Annual Sound of Music Sing-a-long. Lay ee odl lay ee odl-oo!

The Sound of Music Sing-a-Long is a screening of the classic Julie Andrews musical film in glorious full-screen Technicolor on a screen that takes up the entire proscenium, complete with subtitles so that the entire audience can sing along! The screening of this family favorite features more than just the movie. Every guest receives a complimentary Bag of Musical Moments, which contains various props to be used at strategic points throughout the film, ala "Rocky Horror Picture Show."

The evening also features the famous Sound of Music Costume Contest, where guests in the most clever and outrageous outfits claim top prizes. Previous entries include nuns of both genders, girls in white dresses and blue satin sashes, a lonely goatherd, the Alps, brown paper packages tied up with strings and many more of your favorite things! Every person who comes dressed to impress is automatically entered into the contest and is brought on stage for the voting period.

Traditions of Christmas at Coeur d'Alene's Kroc Center



Traditions of Christmas returns for its third year at Coeur d'Alene's Kroc Center December 11th through the 22nd.

Traditions of Christmas is a musical journey of all the greatest Christmas songs and traditions from around the world. Santa's Workshop comes alive with dancing elves, gingerbread dancers, toy soldiers and magical toys. The high-kicking Rockette-style tap dancers are sure to amaze, and the USO scene will bring tears to your eyes as we honor our military.

Feel free to sing along to many holiday favorites such as "White Christmas," "Joy to the World" and many others. The production all comes together at the end with a fully staged Living Nativity. It has a cast of 80 people with spectacular sets and over 400 costumes...it is truly the perfect show to capture the sights and sounds of Christmas.

Gonzaga Symphony at the Fox next Monday



The Gonzaga Symphony Orchestra is joined by acclaimed Korean cellist Sung-Won Yang in a performance of Dvořák's Cello Concerto, Monday, December 8, 7:30 pm at Martin Woldson Theatre at the Fox.
