MAC's '100 Stories' celebrates history and culture of the Inland Northwest

With the end of its first century in sight, the Eastern Washington State Historical Society (Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture) is featuring a new exhibit experience that looks forward as much as it looks back. It runs now through January 31, 2015.

Capitalizing on the MAC's extraordinary collections, '100 Stories' will vibrate with enduring and inescapable themes of the American West. Spirited voices will weave stories of history and cultures and art. This exhibit will demonstrate the MAC's role in maintaining, preserving and interpreting the region.

'100 Stories' will be told on the MAC campus in Browne's Addition, as well as in relevant locations throughout Spokane and eastern Washington as far away as Walla Walla and Grand Coulee Dam. Many of the artifacts you will see in the galleries have never before been on display.

Throughout its two-year run special programming will amplify '100 Stories.' Art and traditional craft demonstrations, living history programs, film, lectures and symposia are among the program considerations. This exhibit experience is a tribute to the Eastern Washington State Historical Society's first century (April 2016) and a prologue to its second.

For a complete list of the '100 Stories' visit the MAC at 2316 West First Avenue in historic Browne's Addition and pick up a brochure listing all the exhibits and locations. The MAC Galleries and Museum Store are open Wednesday through Sunday, 10:00am to 5:00pm. Campbell House and Carriage House Activity Center are open Wednesday through Sunday 12:00am to 4:00pm. Tours are at noon, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm. for more information visit www.northwestmuseum.org.
