New Work by 13 Artists at the Art Spirit Gallery




The Art Spirit Gallery, at 415 Sherman in downtown Coeur d'Alene, presents New Work by 13 Artists this month with an opening reception Friday, April 12 from 5 to 9 pm.

The artists are Chuck Aydlett, Harold Balazs, Victoria Brace, Morse Clary, Mary Farrell, Ken Fenton, Del Gish, Mel McCuddin, Kerry Moosman, Claudia Pettis, Sister Paula Turnbull, Cary Weigand and Gordon Wilson.

Making a Garden Grow - A tribute to Marjory Halvorson

Enjoy an evening of wonderful performances paying tribute to Marjory Halvorson's dynamic vision of the vocal performing arts and the artists she has trained, Thursday April 18, 7:30 pm at the Bing Crosby Theater. This a free concert and donations are to go to Marjory Halvorson.

2013 Arbor Crest Sumer Concert Series




Tickets go on sale April 15 through both Arbor Crest tasting rooms and all Tickets West outlets for Arbor Crest's 2013 Summer Concert series. The hydros return to Coeur d'Alene Labor Day for the Diamond Cup




The Diamond Cup and H1 Unlimited Hydroplane racing return to Lake Coeur d'Alene Labor Day weekend, 2013. The Diamond Cup is the 7th stop on the H1 Hydroplane Circuit. Drivers and Teams from all over the Country will be battling for the National High Point Championship on one of the fastest race courses H1 has to offer. The sanctioned race will be located along Coeur d'Alene's Lakeshore Drive in the Silver Beach area.

'The Sopranos', a theatrical concert at the Fox

Holy Names Music Center presents 'The Sopranos', a theatrical concert, Thursday, April 18 at the Fox Theatre. Wine and dessert reception starts at 6:30 pm, concert at 7:30 pm. Spokane is swinging April 19-21

Spokane's Vintage Swing Festival is April 19-21, featuring the Villa Blues Trio playing at the Knights of Columbus. Enjoy a free introductory dance lesson taught by Ben White from 8 to 9pm. Then the Villa Blues Trio from 9 to midnight, followed by Joel Hunter from Boise spinning your favorite tunes on vinyl.

Saturday from 8 to 9pm at Chateaux Rive in the Flour Mill, more free introductory dance lessons taught by Ben White followed by Glenn Crytzer's Nicators playing from 9 to midnight. Then on Sunday from 2 to 5pm the Variety Pack pays at Riverfront Park just west of the fountain.

Garrison Keillor's 'A Prairie Home Companion' tickets on sale Friday

Garrison Keillor's 'A Prarie Home Companion' is coming to the INB Performing Arts Center for a live radio show recording, July 8 at 7:30 pm. A Prairie Home Companion is heard by more than 4 million listeners each week on some 590 public radio stations, and abroad on America One and the Armed Forces Networks in Europe and the Far East. Garrison recalls, "When the show started, it was something funny to do with my friends, and then it became an achievement that I hoped would be successful, and now it's a good way of life."

Spokane Central Lions cooking up pancakes April 27




Spokane Central Lions is sponsoring a 'Pancakes 'N More' breakfast at the Corbin Senior Center at 827 W. Cleveland, Saturday, April 27 from 8:30 to 11:00 am.

Tickets for the breakfast are $7 per person (including children.) There will be a raffle of gift cards from local food locations. Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit Spokane Central Lions Club Sight and Hearing Programs and the Corbin Senior Center. Upcoming at the MAC

On Saturday, April 13, 'The Rite of Spring' program focuses on Stravinsky's 'The Rite of Spring at 100' with aspects of this famous ballet performed by three musicians with the program guided by Donivan Johnson, Selkirk School District's Music Instructor. A new work by Johnson, commissioned by Mary Moldenhauer, will be premiered entitled 'Apres-Danse Sacrale' (After the Sacrificial Dance). Held at the MAC Auditorium. A 2:15 pm reception precedes the 3:00 pm program. $8 suggested donation.

On Friday, April 19, Art of Science: Botanical Art Past and Present to help celebrate Native Plant Appreciation Week with the Northeast Chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society and the MAC. At 3:00 pm, join local author, teacher and naturalist, Jack Nisbet in a walk-through of the David Douglas exhibit. A 4:00 pm reception showcasing Nisbet's published works and the botanical art of Dr. Linda Ann Vorobik, noted Lopez Island artist. 5:00 pm lecture with Nisbet and Vorobik on the historical and modern importance of botanical illustration. Tickets available at www.nechapterwnps.org. Advance tickets are $25 for exhibit, reception and lecture; $30 at the door. Tickets for the lecture only are $10. The following films will be shown at the Magic Lantern Theater starting Friday, April 12 through Thursday, April 18th. 'On the Road' opens as well as 'Spring Breakers'. Continuing films are 'Quartet,' 'Side Effects', and 'A Place at the Table.'

Megan Becker performs one-woman show as Joy Davidman Lewis

Moody Radio Northwest, 109.7, and The Lion's Share Theatre present the world premier of 'Out of the Shadows,' a one woman show on the life of Joy Davidman Lewis, the wife of the celebrated writer, C. S. Lewis.
