Spokane Restaurant Week Feb. 22 - March 3




The first annual Spokane Restaurant Week begins this Friday, Feb. 22 and continues through Sunday, March 3. Participating restaurants all over town will have special prix fixe menus for either $18 or $28 during the ten day event.

Most Menus feature a minimum of 3 courses. Check out tomorrow's issue of the Inlander with a special pull-out section of participating restaurants and more information, or visit www.restaurantweekspokane.com/.


Lindaman's Sunday Supper March 3

Lindaman's, one of Spokane's favorite restaurants on the South Hill, is open for their 2nd Sunday Supper Club/Concert of the year, Sunday, March 3 beginning at 5pm. Live music performed by Tennessee guitarist, Bill Mize.

Mize has received numerous awards including a Grammy for his work with storyteller David Holt on 'Stellaluna'. His original music has been described as varying from delicate Appalachian highland melodies to greasy Memphis grooves.

The concert, dinner (your choice of 1 of 2 special entrees) and dessert are included in the cost of $50. Beverages are not included. Reservations are required either made at Lindaman's coffee bar or by phone at 509-838-3000 by Thursday, Feb. 28.

Doors open at 5pm with no host wine and cocktails available, dinner is served at 6pm, concert begins at 6:30.


The Drowsy Chaperone opens this Friday at the Civic Theatre

Starting this Friday, Feb. 22 through March 17, The Spokane Civic Theatre presents 'The Drowsy Chaperone', from the book by Bob Martin & Don McKellar, with music & lyrics by Lisa Lambert & Greg Morrison. Directed and choreographed by Kathie Doyle-Lipe and Jean Hardie, under the musical direction of Andrea Hope.

Northern Quest Resort & Casino Nominated for Academy of Country Music Award

After just two years in the outdoor summer concert business, Northern Quest Resort & Casino has been nominated for 'Casino of the Year' by the Academy of Country Music. The five nominees for the award include:
- Northern Quest Resort & Casino - Airway Heights, WA
- Agua Caliente Casino - Rancho Mirage, CA
- Hard Rock Hotel & Casino - Tulsa, OK
- Red Rock Casino & Resort - Las Vegas, NV
- WinStar World Casino - Thackerville, OK

Northern Quest Resort & Casino opened its outdoor summer concert venue in June 2011. Since then, thousands of music fans from the Inland Northwest have traveled to the resort to hear a variety of musical acts on the Pepsi Outdoor Summer Concert stage.


Spokane Chiefs vs. Kamloops this Saturday




The Spokane Chiefs are set to play Kamloops Blazers this Saturday, February 23, 7:00pm at the Spokane Arena. Doors open at 6:00pm. Ticket prices range from $9.00 to $21.00 and are available at www.ticketswest.com or 800-325-SEAT and at 509-535-PUCK.

Spokane Symphony features Classical Guitar




This Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 23 & 24, Eckart Preu conducts the Spokane Symphony Orchestra with Guest performer, Jason Vieaux on guitar. One of brightest young stars of the guitar world today, Jason Vieaux will join the Spokane Symphony for an exotic night of Spanish music. Some selected works are Rodrigo's 'Guitar Concerto', Rimsky-Korsakov's 'Capriccio Espagnol' and De Falla's 'Ritual Fire Dance' from El amor brujo.

The Little Mermaid, JR. comes to The Bing




Christian Youth Theater (CYT) presents 'Disney's The Little Mermaid, Jr.' at the Bing Crosby Theater, starting this Friday, February 22. Adapted from Disney's 2008 Broadway production, 'Disney's Little Mermaid, JR.' features the hit songs, 'Part of your world', 'She's in love' and the Oscar winning, 'Under the Sea' and will be a delightful show for the entire family.

Performances are Friday, Feb. 22 at 7pm; Saturday, Feb 23 at 3pm & 7pm; Friday, March 1 at 7pm; Saturday, March 2 at 3pm & 7pm and Sunday, March 3 at 3pm. Enjoy the Oscars at The Bing

Come watch the 85th Annual Academy Awards ceremony on the big screen this Sunday, February 24 starting at 4pm, in support of KYRS radio, Spokane International Film Festival (SpIFF) and The Lands Council.

'McManus in Love' at EWU




Get in the spirit of spring this winter with a performance of 'McManus in Love,' a one-man comedy written by nationally renowned humor writer and Eastern Washington University Professor Emeritus Patrick F. McManus, and starring Tim Behrens.

'Love' follows the hilarious antics of the young Pat and his pal Crazy Eddie Muldoon, as they discover their fear of the dark is child's play compared to their fear of girls.

The show is in the Showalter Auditorium, Saturday, February 23, doors open at 7pm, show starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are $20 with all proceeds benefit EWU Scholarships. For tickets and information call Jane Noonan at 509-359-2227.

Fashion Show & Fundraiser for INCED


The Inland Northwest Coalition on Eating Disorders' (INCED) 5th Annual 'Be Comfortable in Your Own Genes' fashion show and fundraiser will be held this Saturday, Feb. 23 at The Lincoln Center, 1316 N Lincoln Street in Spokane. The evening celebrates models of all shapes & sizes. The goal of this fashion show is to promote healthy self-esteem and body image by recognizing that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, ages, and ethnicities. Proceeds will provide education and treatment options to help those battling life-threatening eating disorders.

Kris Crocker from KXLY News 4 will emcee the event with music by Liz Rognes. Social hour starts at 6pm with appetizers and wine sampling and the program and show start at 7pm. There will be an after party at 9pm.
