Spokane's Sophia Caruso will be a smash in 'SMASH'




Eleven year old Spokane actress Sophia Caruso has been chosen for a part in the TV show 'SMASH.' She is in filming right now with one of her idols, Bernadette Peters. Spokane audiences know Sophie for her Civic Theatre role as 'Annie', her portrayal of Helen Keller in Interplayers' 'The Miracle Worker' and dozens of other shows. Bravo Sophie!

Happy 70th 'White Christmas!'




'White Christmas', the best-selling single record of all time (with more than 100 million copies sold worldwide) turns 70 this year. KTRW-AM630/Spokane Old Time Radio and Nostalgia Magazine are celebrating with a half-hour radio show.

'White Christmas at 70' will air Saturday, December 22nd at 8:00am and 3:00pm; Wednesday, December 26th at 11:30 am and Saturday, December 29th at 8:00am. The program will also be available as a podcast on the Nostalgia Magazine website: nostalgiamagazine.net.

Spokane Symphony Invites you to Celebrate New Year's Eve




New Year's Eve is just around the corner and the Spokane Symphony will be celebrating. Once again, Music Director Eckart Preu will conduct the Spokane Symphony and the Spokane Symphony Chorale in their New Year's Eve tradition of performing the inspirational Ninth Symphony by Beethoven on Monday, December 31 at 7:30pm at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox.

The celebration continues immediately after the concert at 'Puttin' on the Ritz', at the Davenport Hotel's Grand Pennington Ballroom from 9:00pm until 12:30am. The ticket includes hors d'oeuvres, champagne toast at midnight, and dancing to live music from Master Class Jazz Orchestra. Black Tie Preferred. This event is limited to those 21 and over, and a no host bar will be available.

Don't miss Christmas at the Fox

This Thursday, December 20, the Upper Columbia Academy presents its sixth annual 'Christmas at the Fox' concert, featuring a Symphonic Band, a String Ensemble, a mass Choir and a small choral ensemble performing Christmas standards, both classical and jazz, sacred and secular. This concert is free and seating is general admission. Doors open at 6:30pm, performance is at 7:30pm.

Sing a Long to The Sounds of Music

The 'Sound of Music' is returning to the INB Performing Arts Center for one night only, Saturday, December 29 at 7pm. This performance will be an interactive-viewing. Sing-a-long with Maria and the entire von Trapp family. The Sing-a-Long is presented locally by KXLY and Mark Peterson will act as emcee the night of the event.

The 'Sound of Music' Sing-a-Long is a screening of the classic Julie Andrews musical film in full-screen Technicolor, complete with subtitles so that the entire audience can sing along. Every guest receives a complimentary Bag of Musical Moments, which contains various props to be used at strategic points throughout the film (like The Rocky Horror Picture Show).

There will also be a Sound of Music Costume Contest, where guests in the most clever and outrageous outfits claim top prizes. Previous entries include nuns of both genders, girls in white dresses and blue satin sashes, brown paper packages tied up with strings and many more of your favorite things! Every person who comes dressed to impress is automatically entered into the contest and is brought on stage for the voting period.
